From the Cross to the Coffee Table: The Enduring Significance of Easter Today

“He’s Risen... and So Is My Coffee: Why Resurrection Sunday Changes Everything”

It has been a while since I last posted. So much has changed yet, things are the same. I had to return and share a little about one of most important holidays are so important to me.

Let’s be honest — Easter Sunday can sometimes feel like a whirlwind of pastel chaos. Between trying to keep your white pants clean, explaining to the kids for the fifth time that the chocolate bunny is not historically accurate, and attempting a Pinterest-worthy resurrection roll that ends up looking like a burnt offering from Moses himself… it’s easy to lose sight of what we’re actually celebrating.

But beneath the eggs, the excitement, and the sugar crashes lies the single most pivotal moment in all of human history: Resurrection Sunday — the day that changed everything, forever.

Spoiler Alert: The Tomb Is Still Empty

Let’s rewind. Before there was a crown of thorns, there was a cradle. God didn’t send a policy change or a motivational speaker — He sent Himself. Wrapped in flesh, born of a virgin, Jesus Christ stepped into our dusty, messy, crusty, complicated world to make a way for us to come home.

“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.” — John 1:14

That’s already mind-blowing. But He didn’t stop there.

Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life. He healed the sick, loved the unlovable, washed dirty feet, even the feet of the friend with the ultimate betrayal, and called the broken close. Then — in an act that still leaves me breathless — He laid His life down. Willingly. For me, for you, for the whole mess of humanity.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8

And here's the mic-drop moment: He didn’t stay dead.

Three days later, the stone was rolled away (no angelic CrossFit needed), and Jesus walked out of that tomb. The O.G. like a boss move. Talk about swagger. Alive. Victorious. Radiant. And because He lives, everything — everything — is different.

“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” — Matthew 28:6

So, What Are We Actually Celebrating?

No offense to the bunnies and brunch, but Easter isn’t just a photo op in a field of tulips. We’re celebrating:

  • Victory over sin and death

  • Redemption through Christ’s sacrifice

  • The overwhelming love of a Savior who gave everything for us

  • The living Jesus, who still transforms hearts today

This Isn’t Religion. It’s Relationship.

Y’all, I don’t follow Jesus because I’m religious. I follow Him because He rescued me. Because He loved me when I didn’t love myself. Because He carried my shame, healed my heart, and gave me purpose when I was lost in the noise of the world.

I’m in awe of a Savior who stepped out of glory, put on human skin, suffered what I deserved, and walked out of a grave so I could one day walk into Heaven — not by my merit, but by His mercy. And here’s the thing that keeps me up at night in the best way possible: I want to take as many people as possible with me.

If Jesus could conquer death, then He can conquer addiction, restore marriages, heal hearts, break chains, and rewrite any story — even yours. He did MINE!

So, Let’s Celebrate Loudly

This Resurrection Sunday, I’m not just dressing up. I’m showing up — heart wide open, hands lifted, coffee in one hand and Bible in the other — to celebrate the One who rolled away the stone and made a way home.

He is risen, y’all. And because of that — so are we.

Hallelujah and pass the coffee!!!
